Situated in the heart of the Sabi Sand Private Game Reserve, on the unfenced border of the Kruger National Park, lies a true African jewel – Nkorho Bush Lodge. Here, the owners personally manage the lodge, offering an intimate safari experience that has guests returning time and time again, feeling as though Nkorho is their second home.

A Home Born of Dedication

The story of Nkorho begins with the owners themselves, who, with a wealth of hospitality experience, embraced the challenge of moving to the bush in December 1996. By January 1997, they began shaping the lodge into what it is today: a welcoming sanctuary where comfort meets the extraordinary, and guests become one with the surrounding wilderness.

Begin your day with a game drive led by an experienced ranger and tracker – watch the bushveld awaken before your very eyes as elephants, lions, leopards, and a host of other wildlife go about their daily routines. Each day promises both adventure and tranquillity, drawing you into the heart of African wildlife.

Afternoons at Nkorho are the perfect time to relax, reflect on your morning’s sightings, and cool off in our unique rock pool while soaking up the African sun. As the day transitions to evening, the nocturnal creatures take centre stage.

From the comfort of the lodge, indulge in authentic African cuisine around the open fire of a traditional leadwood boma, accompanied by a fine bottle of wine from our comprehensive cellar. The atmosphere is alive with warmth, vibrancy, and a sense of exclusive freedom – a feeling like no other.

With a capacity of just 16 guests and two game drive vehicles, Nkorho remains small and intimate, ensuring every visitor receives personal attention from owners and staff alike. This hands-on approach permeates all aspects of the lodge, from daily operations to guest interactions, creating a warm, family-like atmosphere.

Activities

Game Drives

Game drives are the ultimate way to experience the Sabi Sand wilderness. Morning drives start early, 05:00 – the best time to spot the elusive and magnificent wildlife. Our staff will gently wake you at least 30 minutes before departure, giving you time to enjoy a cup of coffee and rusks on the patio before setting out. During the drive, we’ll pause for tea or coffee while you soak up the sights and sounds of the bush.

Afternoon and evening drives are scheduled on check-in, allowing you to catch the magic of the sunset. Sundowner drinks are served at scenic spots, giving you the perfect moment to marvel at the surroundings. On returning to the lodge, freshen up and join us at the bar for a pre-dinner drink.

Bush Walks

For a closer connection to the bush, guided nature walks are included in your experience. Accompanied by an experienced ranger, walks take place either before breakfast in summer or after breakfast in winter, depending on the season.

Wear natural-coloured clothing, a hat, and comfortable walking shoes, and don’t forget sunscreen and insect repellent. And remember the golden rule of the bush: Leave nothing but footprints, take nothing but memories and photographs.

Refresh, Relax, Reconnect

Afternoons are yours to unwind. Cool off in our unique rock pool, soak up the African sun, or simply savour a moment of tranquillity as you reflect on the morning’s safari adventures. Between adventures, guests can pamper themselves with a spa treatment, or keep active in our fully equipped gym.

Lunchtime is served at 14:00, giving you the perfect opportunity to recharge before your afternoon or evening safari adventure at 20:00.
